Hasselblad Solutions Event wrap-up...

Burrard Inlet from Burnaby Mountain - Hasselblad H4D-60

The Hasselblad event last Thursday was a success.  First and foremost, I want to thank Marc Koegel, Wayne Hoecherl and everyone at Vancouver Photo Workshops for generously hosting our Hasselblad event!

The afternoon started out with an informative talk by Hasselblad's own Eric Peterson, who flew in from Atlanta, Georgia for the event. He covered Hasselblad's Phocus software in detail and answered all sorts of questions. He then switched to hardware talk, discussing the H4D camera system in detail, as well as the 40, 50, Multi-shot 50 and 60 megapixel backs. Tethered shooting and Live-View with Phocus software was also demonstrated. Finally, we were given a slick demonstration of Phocus Mobile running on both an iPad 2 as well as numerous iPhone 4's that were at the event.

Lastly, there was a hands-on session, where attendees were able to use one of three different H4D cameras on display at the event, as well as numerous lenses and the HTS tilt-shift adapter. Some people shot and downloaded to USB sticks, others brought their own CF cards. Gina Connor from Hasselblad was also there to help answer questions and demonstrate the gear.

Gina left her demo H4D-60 camera with me for the weekend, and on Saturday I shot 158 images (12GB in total) in a variety of locations around the Lower Mainland including Pitt Lake, the forest in Golden Ears Park, the new Pitt River Bridge and lastly Burnaby Mountain.

The image at the top of this posting (the bottom slightly cropped) was taken about 20 minutes after sunset at Burnaby Mountain Park, with the HC 150mm f/3.2 lens at ISO 50, f/11 with a 4 second exposure. If you click the image, a 100% pixel-level crop will open that is still a whopping 2837x1567 pixels in size with a detailed look at Vancouver Harbour. In the next few days, I hope to post an image gallery with more photos from the H4D-60...
